Nuxeo and Smile partnership

Nuxeo and Smile announced a partnership. From the announcement, Nuxeo wants to ensure their customers get to find trained, qualified and certified engineers. Smile selected Nuxeo based on their technology choice and their open source approach.

OpenERP signs agreement with Smile in France

OpenERP, previously known as TinyERP, signed a partnership agreement with Smile. Smile considers OpenERP as a product with great maturity, and abroad set of modules available (all under the GPL).

NuFW deployed by the french department of national education

NuFw adds user based filtering to the linux IP filtering layer iptables. It was developed by INL and released under GPL.
The agreement will enable the schools using the Amon firewall to use NuFW.
Amon, with currently 7000 deployment, is developed under the EOLE umbrella, aiming to develop Free and Open solutions under the GPL license.

French gendarmerie switching to Ubuntu

After switching to OpenOffice in 2005 and to Mozilla Firefox and Thuderbird in 2006, the french Gendarmerie is switching to Ubuntu. The goal is to have the 70000 PCs moved to Ubuntu within 5 years.

Free Software user guide for administration

France' "Direction Générale de Modernisation de L'État" published a Free Software user guide for administration (in french). It takes the form of Questions and Answers, and defines what is a software, a Free Software, a license and also helps to fine Fre Software on the web. It also goes further by asking questions as "is it possible to require the use of a specific Free Software?".
